Bishal Gyawali

The Philosopher

We all die one day. But have we all lived?

Hello everyone, my name is Bishal Gyawali. You may know me as a medical oncologist, but I also like to think of myself as a philosopher. This website is the place for my philosophical thoughts. For my oncology work, refer to my oncology website.

I built this site primarily to post the chapters from my Journey of Success Book. But I have also decided to share other inspirational essays in this website under the Library of Inspiration page, and my spiritual thoughts under the Spiritual Journey page. Check them out. I hope you will find your subscription to this site meaningful. Cheers!

  • Disclaimers and Definitions

I will continually update this page as new definitions are needed to understand the “Spiritual Journey” section of my blogs.’ First a disclaimer, I don’t care much for facts in this section. What matters most is the message, not the accuracy of facts. I might say a Japanese Zen Master said XXX when in fact… Read more

  • Epiphany

As I mentioned in my earlier post, I sensed that the Truth is not what meets the eye. I wanted to know the Truth about well, everything. The basic questions that always troubled me started to resurface. Questions like who am I? Why am I here? Doing what in this planet? What is the meaning… Read more

  • Why I wrote this Book?

(Written in 2011, edited in 2023. I have added additional commentaries on certain sections in Italics in parentheses.) I have written a separate chapter in this book about how beautiful this life is. Despite various setbacks I have received in life (believe me, I have had my share although superficially it mayn’t look so) ,… Read more

Or stepped back and later had to say “I might”

Were you brave enough to turn on the light?

Or stepped back and said “Let’s endure the night!”
