Don’t be anything or anybody; just be

The silliest thing about enlightenment is the amount of hard work it requires to be enlightened. People practice for several years and yet get only a glimpse of it. This is something that people can’t buy no matter how rich they are- so in that sense this is The Great Equalizer. No matter how much status or wealth or power one holds in the materialistic world, one cannot demand or deserve or buy enlightenment. You have to actually put in effort yourself, you cannot outsource it. So, how much effort you should put into it?

    Dear professor Gyawali. I wish I could meet you in person someday to discuss this further! I agree, what we spend time and effort is to un-learn the conventions we are brain washed with from birth. To un-learn that the currency from these conventions don’t matter. I do struggle with the accountability piece, and morality of our deeds. I will continue to ponder on this effortlessly.
